10/09/2010 – The women's volleyball team was very impressive in a four set victory over the Racers today. The victory improves the Saints record to 5-4 in the conference and 10-11 overall, while Northwestern Ohio drops to 7-4 in league play and 18-9 on the season.
After splitting the first two sets (25-20 and 24-26), the Saints proceeded to play their best volleyball of the season to slam the door on the Racers three games to one (25-16 and 25-14). The dominant play in the third and fourth sets was spearheaded by the fine play of senior Mollie Lounds. Lounds led the Saints with 18 kills (.510 attack percentage), while Katie Vander Meer orchestrated a 51 assist night. Sarah Leclair led the club with 22 digs and the Saints got a big lift from transfer Amanda Morely who had her best match as a Saint with nine kills.
The Saints will return to action on Thursday as they travel to Rochester College for a tri-match with the host Warriors and Marygrove College.
