Saints Fall to #4 Indiana Wesleyan

11/09/2012 – The men's basketball team was defeated 63-50 on the opening night of the WHAC/Crossroads Challenge held at Cornerstone University. The victory kept the Wildcats perfect at 4-0, while the Saints fell to 1-3 on the season.

The Saints played the number four ranked team in the land tough, but had no answer for the Wildcats three point barrage. Indiana Wesleyan converted on 12 of 22 beyond the arc, while the Saints could only muster three makes from trey land. The 27 point advantage from beyond the arc was too much for the Saints to overcome. Overall the Saints matched the Wildcats in field goal percentage (41%-40%), but only converted 9 of 19 free throws for a 47% clip from the charity stripe.

Aquinas received double digit scoring nights from Kenny Gordon and Zach Eddy. Gordon led the Saints with 13 points, while Eddy scored ten in the defeat. Joe Ferrici grabbed six boards to lead the Saints on the glass.

Aquinas will look for a split at the tournament as they will be paired up with Spring Arbor (3-1) tomorrow starting at 1 p.m.
