Poor Shooting Dooms Saints

11/10/2012 – The women's basketball team was defeated on the road by Rochester College by the score of 56-54. The Warriors improved to 2-2 on the season with the victory, while the Saints fell to a matching 2-2 mark overall.

The Saints, who carried a seven point lead into the half and led by as many as 13, could not overcome a poor shooting afternoon at Rochester. Aquinas struggled putting the ball in the basket, while the Warriors received just enough support to hold onto the non-conference win. Rochester out shot the Saints (35%-29%) from the field, including nine makes from beyond the three point arc. Meanwhile, the Saints converted 12% (2-17) of their three's and went 16-26 (62%) from the charity stripe.

Allison Heberlein led three Saints in double figures with 17 points. Clare Conway and Elyse Starck chipped in with twelve and ten points respectively. Conway led the Saints with ten rebounds, while Heberlein added nine rebounds. Ke'ala Ka'aikala paced the Warriors with 15 points.

The Saints will return to action on Wednesday when they host Robert Morris (3-1) at 7 p.m.
