11/10/2012 – The men's basketball team concluded the WHAC/Crossroads Challenge with a loss to Spring Arbor University. The Cougars improved to 4-1 on the season, while the Saints fell to 1-4 overall.
The Saints used some early offense to jump out to a 20-11 lead at the 10:21 mark of the first half. A quick spurt enabled the Cougars to pull within two before the game began to see-saw back and forth. The two teams entered the half with Spring Arbor clinging to a two point advantage (31-29).
The game remained tight in the early stages of the second half as Austin Semple's two point basket at the 11:59 mark summoned the tenth tie of the contest. The Cougars would then proceed to go on a 24-10 run over the next nine minutes to put the game out of reach. The bench played a key role in determining the outcome as the Cougars outscored the Saints 29-2. The final buzzer sounded and the scoreboard showed the Saints on the wrong end of a 75-61 verdict.
