11/17/2012 – The women's basketball team opened conference play with a 80-49 loss on the road to Siena Heights. The victory improved Siena's record to 2-1 on the season and to 1-1 in the WHAC, while the Saints fell to 3-3 overall and to 0-1 in league play.
Aquinas traveled over enemy lines and was ambushed in the games early moments by Siena. The home team jumped all over the Saints and built a 16-2 lead five minutes into the contest. Aquinas faced an uphill battle that they were unable to overcome. Siena went into the locker room with a 38-25 lead and continued to build the advantage to as many as 34 during the second half of play. Aquinas found themselves on the wrong end of a lopsided scoreboard, 80-49.
Aquinas was led by Marissa Marx who scored 15 points, while Allison Heberlein chipped in with nine points and grabbed eight rebounds. Siena Heights' Morgan Warfield led five Saints in double figures with 15 points.
The Saints will return to the court on Tuesday with a home date versus Indiana Tech (1-4, 1-0 WHAC).
