Semple's Double-Double Not Enough

11/24/2012 – The men's basketball team was defeated by Hope College in the final game of the 2012 Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic. The Flying Dutch improved to 2-2 on their home court, while the Saints dropped to 1-8 on the season.

Hope College used the home crowd and a 37-26 advantage off the bench to split their pair of games at the DeVos Fieldhouse. The contest saw four ties and nine lead changes, but it was the Flying Dutch who held off the Saints for the three point (58-55) victory.

Brandon Walker paced the Saints with 14 points, while Austin Semple recorded 13 points and ten rebounds. Semple was awarded a spot on the All-Tournament Team for his efforts over the Thanksgiving weekend. Nate Snuggerud and Chase DeMaagd both recorded 15 points in the victory.

The Saints will return to WHAC action on Wednesday as they travel to Ann Arbor to battle Concordia (2-5, 1-1 WHAC) at 7:30 p.m.
