11/29/2012 – The first installment of the NAIA Learfield Director’s Cup standings has been released and Aquinas is currently in sixth place with 144 points. The first set of standings include the sports of men’s and women’s cross country. British Columbia (Canada) currently holds the top spot with 172 total points.
The Learfield Director’s Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports - six women's and six men's.
The Saints received 75 points for their fifth place finish in men's cross country, while the women accounted for 69 points based off their seventh place performance at the NAIA National Championships in Fort Vancouver, Washington.
The next standings will be released on December 13th and will include the sports of men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball.
