Krzykwa Leads Saints Past Delta

12/11/2012 – The Saints completed another perfect weekend as Aquinas defeated Delta College 8-4 at Griff's Ice House. The victory improved the Saints record to 12-6 on the season, while Delta fell to 3-13 overall.

The Saints, who defeated Lawrence Tech 7-3 on Friday night to brake a four game losing skid, were looking to continue their winning ways in front of their home crowd at Griff's Ice House. Delta jumped out quickly by scoring a pair of first period goals. Tyler Myers accounted for both goals to give the visitors some early breathing room. At this point the tide turned and Matt Krzykwa took over the contest. Krzykwa added two goals by the final horn in the first period to bring the Saints to within one goal at 3-2.

The Saints dominated play in the second period to gain the advantage at 5-3. Krzykwa notched two more lamp lighters, while Sam Matthews added a power play goal. Krzykwa added his fifth and final goal at the 5:39 mark of the final period. Additional insurance goals were turned in by Michael Gugin and Greg Baranyai to complete the 8-4 victory.

Matt Daniels was awarded the victory in net as he stopped 23 of 27 attempts by Delta. The Saints will return to action this weekend with a home and home series with Holy Cross (11-5) beginning on Friday night.
