Saints Succumb to Panther Pressure

02/10/2013 – The women's basketball team was defeated by Davenport University by the count of 96-42 at its annual "Pink Out" at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center. The Panthers improved to 25-2 on the season and to 18-2 in league play, while the Saints fell to 8-12 in the WHAC and to 12-14 overall. The Saints are now the eighth seed in the WHAC, while Davenport remained in second place with one week remaining in the regular season. Aquinas will look to win one of their remaining two contests to secure a spot in the WHAC Tournament.

Aquinas managed to stay close early as the Panthers lead was five with just over eight minutes to play in the first half. A 52-12 run over the next twenty minutes was spearheaded by the Panthers defense. Davenport's pressure caused 37 Saint turnovers and led to 41 points. The Panthers never ceased the attack and walked off the court with a 96-42 victory.

The Saints were paced by Danielle Lollo who scored ten points in eleven minutes of play.

Aquinas will now travel to Lawrence Tech (6-18, 4-16 WHAC) on Wednesday to battle the Blue Devils.
