03/06/2013 – After struggling in its first two games of a southern trip to Atlanta, the Aquinas College men's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season with a 12-11 victory over Emmanuel College.
The Saints found themselves in an early hole, trailing 3-2 after the first quarter. The Saints would battle back and find themselves leading at the half after a Casey Coretti goal just seconds before the break. The two teams would continue to battle back and forth until the Lions opened up a two goal lead late in the fourth quarter. The resilient Saints would fight back once again, scoring three consecutive goals to take a 12-10 lead. A late goal by the Lions made things interesting once again, but the Saints would hold on and defeat their hosts from Georgia.
Coretti led the way for the Saints, scoring 3 goals. Jake Auyer and Josh Jeszke each added 1 goal and 2 assists. Midfielders Will Comai, Mark Evans, and Tim Hansen scored two goals each. Zack Brancheau had a goal and an assist, while freshman Ben Majeske added an assist for his first career point. Sophomore goalie Jimmy Watt was once again strong in net, recording 20 saves. This was Watt's second game of 20+ saves already this season.
