03/11/2013 – Mark Evans and Breanne Stockall of Aquinas are the first-ever Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) lacrosse players of the week. Evans scored four goals during the week as the men's team went 1-2 and Stockall recorded 32 saves as the women also posted a 1-2 record.
A native of Rochester Hills, Evans saw plenty of playing time during the Saints' three games. In addition to his four goals, the junior had 22 ground balls, one block and won 74% of his face offs. Mark scored a goal and had six ground balls during a 5-9 loss against Georgia Southern on March 3. In a 12-11 win against Emmanuel (Ga.) on March 5, the midfielder scored twice and had eight ground balls and a block. Evans last goal came during a 7-10 loss at Emory (Ga.) when he also had eight ground balls. Aquinas is now 1-3 on the season.
Stockall, a senior from Okemos, saw 13 shots and had nine saves in a 20-4 win against Emmanuel (Ga.) on March 4. In a 15-17 loss at St. Andrews (N.C.) on March 7, she faced 28 shots and had 11 saves while holding St. Andrews to six goals in the second half as the Saints made a 9-6 run to almost pull the upset. Bre turned back a number of one-on-one shots in a 6-9 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan on March 9 and recorded 12 saves. The Aquinas women are 1-2 overall.
