03/24/2013 – The women's lacrosse team picked up a pair of victories on Saturday over Siena Heights and Midland of Nebraska. The Saints are now 4-3 overall and 1-1 in league play. Siena Heights fell to 0-3 in the WHAC and to 1-8 on the season, while the Warriors from Midland are now sitting at 3-3.
The Saints earned a much needed conference victory by scoring early and often. A trio of goals in the games early stages set the tone for the remainder of the afternoon. Aquinas' offense continued to click as they headed to the locker room with a 14-4 lead. Coach Rogers crew kept the intensity up and opened a 19-4 advantage with over 16 minutes to play in the second half. A late rally closed the gap to 21-10 with the Saints from Grand Rapids holding onto the victory.
Aquinas' offense was paced by Lauren McCarty (5 goals), Kati Rogers (5 goals) and Alexandra Burns (4 goals). Breanna Stockall was credited with the victory in net as she recorded seven saves.
The Saints defeated Midland 13-6 in other action from Adrian on Saturday.
Aquinas will return to action with a home contest versus Calvin College (0-7) on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
