03/27/2013 – The women's lacrosse team picked up a home victory over Calvin College by the count of 22-2. The victory improved the Saints record to 5-3, while the Knights fell to 1-7 on the season.
The duo of Alexandra Burns and Kati Rogers struck for four quick goals to give the Saints the early 4-0 advantage. The Knights, who are in their first season as a varsity sport, had no answers for the Aquinas high octane offense. A barrage of goals later in the half enabled the Saints to establish a 14-2 lead at the break. The Saints defense would then hold Calvin scoreless in the second half, while putting eight more goals themselves on the scoreboard. Aquinas was led by Burns and Lauren McCarty, who both netted six goals a piece. Rogers, the reigning NWLL Player of the Week, added five goals and an assist.
Breanne Stockall was credited with the victory as she allowed two goals and recorded three saves. The Saints will return to action on Thursday when the host Hope College (1-5) at 5 p.m.
