04/05/2013 – The women's lacrosse team mounted a furious comeback only to fall to Indiana Tech 13-11 in Fort Wayne. The victory improved the Warriors record to 9-1 overall and to 5-0 in the WHAC, while the Saints fell to 8-4 on the season and to 2-2 in league play.
The Saints, who were looking to even the season series with the Warriors, spotted the home team a seven goal lead 15 minutes into the contest. Following the early ambush the Saints offense started to find some sense of rhythm, but still found themselves in an 11-4 hole at the half.
Early second half action saw both teams trade goals before the Saints buckled down. A 7-0 run over the games last 15 minutes brought the Saints to within two goals, but Aquinas ran out of clock as Indiana Tech prevailed 13-11.
Lauren McCarty paced the offense with three goals, while Courtney Wheelock assisted on four goals. Breanne Stockall was credited with the loss as she gave up 13 goals on 25 shots.
The Saints will travel to Davenport (7-6, 2-3 WHAC) on Saturday in a key WHAC tilt with the Panthers. The ball will drop at 6 p.m. on the campus of Davenport University.
