Saints Upset by Crusaders 3-1

10/23/2010 – The men's soccer team was defeated for the first time this year in conference play by Madonna 3-1. The loss drops the Saints record to 3-1 in the WHAC and 12-4 overall, while the Crusaders improved to 3-2 in the league and 7-5 overall.

The Crusaders logged the first goal of the game in the 9th minute by Mustapha Olorunnimbe. In the 37th minute of play, Ogbemudia Iyoha successfully converted a penalty kick to give Madonna a 2-0 advantage. An early second half goal by Heath Somers trimmed the lead to one goal, but Madonna responded
with Mustapha Olorunnimbe second goal of the game to finish the scoring at 3-1.

Four Saints were honored at halftime for their commitment to the Aquinas College men's soccer program. Seniors Chad DuRussel, Ruben Ornelas-Luna, Jeovani Pantoja and Michael Vaughan all played their last regular season home contest in a Saints uniform.

Aquinas will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Fort Wayne to battle Indiana Tech (10-6, 2-2 WHAC) at 7 p.m.
