04/12/2013 – The men's lacrosse team nailed down a home victory as the Saints defeated the Timberwolves of Northwood University. Aquinas improved to 4-8 on the season, while the Wolves fell to 2-7 overall.
The two squads were knotted in a tight battle over the games first twenty minutes. The Saints held a 4-3 lead midway through the second period before the flood gates opened. Aquinas rattled off eight consecutive goals during the final minutes of the first half and the opening stages of the third period. Aquinas, holding a 13-4 advantage, relied on their defense the rest of the way to cruise to the 17-5 verdict.
Zach Brancheau led the offensive attack with four goals, while Jake Auyer and Tim Hansen chipped in with three goals a piece. The Saints out shot the Wolves 53-17 and held a 40-11 advantage in ground balls.
The Saints will return to action on Sunday as they travel to Groves High School to battle UM Dearborn (5-3).
