10/25/2010 – The women's volleyball extended their current winning streak to nine and will look to make it ten at the "Black Out" on Tuesday. The team championship at the Calumet College of St. Joseph Tournament improved the Saints record to 18-11 on the season. Aquinas defeated Trinity Christian, Mount Mercy and host Calumet College en route to their first tournament championship in a very long time.
The team seems to be functioning on all cylinders as the post season tournament approaches. The Saints have now won 12 of their last 13 under the leadership of senior co-captains Katie Vander Meer and Mollie Lounds. The senior setter from Kentwood recently became the all-time leader in career assists, surpassing Jaclyn Scheltema (2000-2003). Katie currently has 3,136 assists for the Saints and will look to add to her total in the coming weeks.
The Saints will return to action on Tuesday as the Saints will host Davenport at the new Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center at 7 p.m. The game is "BLACKED OUT" -- so wear black to the game and get in free.
