10/26/2010 – The women's volleyball team defeated Davenport in five sets to notch their tenth consecutive victory. The Saints currently stand alone in third place in the WHAC with a 9-4 league mark and a 19-11 record overall.
The Sturrus Center was a buzz with anticipation and excitement as the Saints and Panthers teamed up to open the building for athletic competition. After digging themselves a 0-2 hole, the Saints showed poise and composure in outlasting Davenport in a five set marathon. A very competitive and exciting contest has the Sturrus patrons wondering if every game will be this entertaining.
The offensive attack was led by Jessica Curtis (15 kills), Mollie Lounds (13 kills) and Chelsea Phillips (12 kills). Lounds is now only 13 kills away from becoming the all-time leader in career kills. Sarah LeClair notched 23 digs, while Katie Vander Meer recorded 44 assists and 11 digs.
The Saints will be right back in action tonight at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center as Aquinas will host Cornerstone at 7 p.m.
