09/08/2013 – The women's soccer team was defeated by Taylor University by the score of 3-1 at the AQ Athletic Field. The Trojans improved to 5-1 on the season, while the Saints fell to 1-3 overall.
The Saints, who were looking to stay perfect in 2013, ran into a well coached and talented Taylor squad. The Trojans used a hat-trick by their All-American forward, Molly Drogger, to defeat the Saints. The Holland High School grad currently leads the nation in goals scored (12). Drogger's goals during the 7th, 57th and 89th minute were all the Trojans needed to leave Grand Rapids with the victory.
The lone Aquinas goal came in the 23rd minute of play as Allison VanPatten netted her third score of the season. Maggie Keiffer was credited with the assist on a corner kick. Both goalies, Molly O'Connor and Kristiana Griffith, recorded four saves in net. The Trojans outshot the Saints 15-12.
Aquinas will have a chance to regroup before their next contest on September 18th. The Saints will travel to Jackson to battle the third ranked Cougars of Spring Arbor (2-2-1)
