09/18/2013 – The women's soccer team was held in check by the by the ninth ranked team in the land, Spring Arbor, 2-0. The victory improved the Cougars record to 6-2-1, while the Saints fell to 3-2 overall.
The Saints, who were coming off an eleven day break from competition, were looking to spring the upset on their former WHAC rival. The Cougars had other ideas as Spring Arbor netted the games first goal at the 10:20 mark of the first half. Brooklyn Morgan notched her fourth goal of the season on a set-up by reigning NAIA Offensive Player of the Week, Karly Linton. The match remained tight until an early second half goal was turned in by Rachel Shive to give the Cougars the two goal advantage.
The Cougar defense and keeper, Sarah Yancer, did the rest as they kept the Saints off the scoreboard for the full 90 minutes. Molly O'Connor recorded six saves in the defeat. Spring Arbor outshot the Saints 21-8.
The Saints will look to regroup as they open conference play on Saturday against Indiana Tech (4-2-1).
