10/31/2010 – The women's volleyball team ran their win streak to 15 games as the Saints went undefeated at the Cornerstone Classic Volleyball Tournament. Aquinas added to their school record for consecutive wins and now finds themselves with an overall record of 24-11.
Victories over Bethel, Goshen, Spring Arbor and St. Francis (IN) led the Saints to the tournament championship. Aquinas has now won back to back tournaments the past two weekends. Both Katie Vander Meer and Chelsea Phillips were named to the All-Tournament First Team, with Vander Meer capturing the tournament's MVP. Junior libero, Sarah LeClair, also was recognized on the All-Tournament Second Team for her defensive work. LeClair was just shy of 100 digs over the four matches and is closing in on the single season dig record at Aquinas.
The Saints will receive some home cooking this week as Aquinas will host the final three WHAC matches of the season. On Monday, Aquinas will battle with UM Dearborn (12-29, 2-12 WHAC) starting at 7 p.m. at the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center.
