  • Approximately 500,000 people in this country have some degree of cerebral palsy.
  • This year in Kent, Ottawa and Allegan counties, we estimate that approximately 50 children will be born with cerebral palsy.
  • Spina bifida affects approximately one out of every 1,000 newborns in the United States.
  • According to the Spina Bifida Association of America, spina bifida is the most frequently occurring permanently disabling birth defect.
