- Click on the Start menu and then on Control Panel.
- Double-click on Network and Sharing Center.
- Click on Manage Network Connections.
- Right click on Local Area Connection and then click Properties.
- Make sure that Client for Microsoft Networks and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are checked.
- Make sure that File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks is unchecked.
- Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Properties.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- Click OK in the Internet Protocol Properties window.
- Click OK in the Local Area Connection Properties window.
It is also recommended that you turn on the Windows Vista Firewall for added security.
