To use your computer on AQnet, you must first set up your operating system. It is recommended that you first visit Windows Update. To view and install avaialbe updates, click Start, All Programs, and Windows Updates. Click on Check for updates and install "Important Updates" as quickly as possible. When you are ready to configure Windows for AQnet, follow the steps below.
- Click on the Start menu and then on Control Panel.
- Double-click on Network and Sharing Center.
- Click on Manage Network Connections.
- Right click on Local Area Connection and then click Properties.
- Make sure that Client for Microsoft Networks and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are checked.
- Make sure that File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks is unchecked.
- Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Properties.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- Click OK in the Internet Protocol Properties window.
- Click OK in the Local Area Connection Properties window.
It is also recommended that you turn on the Windows Vista Firewall for added security. |
