Windows XP/2000

To use your computer on AQnet, you must first set up your operating system. It is recommended that you first visit windowsupdate.com in order to download the latest patches, security updates, and service releases. When you are ready to configure Windows for AQnet, follow the steps below.

  1. Click on the Start menu and then on Control Panel.
  2. Double-click on Network Connections
  3. Right-click on Local Area Network and then click Properties
  4. Make sure that Client for Microsoft Networks and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are checked.
  5. Make sure that File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks is unchecked.
  6. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Properties
  7. Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically
  8. Click OK in the Internet Protocol Properties window
  9. Click OK in the Local Area Connection Properties window

It is also recommended that you turn on the Windows XP Firewall for added security.
