David Kelly, Jr. is the Pedagogista for the
Reggio Emilia inspired schools of the area. These schools include
the Grand
Rapids Child Discovery Center, which was developed by Aquinas
College and chartered by the Grand Rapids Public Schools, and
the Aquinas
College Child Development Center. Dave was the Atelierista
at Chicago Commons for over six years. Prior to that he worked
as an exhibit designer at the Kohl Children's Museum in Chicago,
where he met and became inspired by Loris Malaguzzi, the philosophical
founder from Reggio Emilia, Italy. Dave has a Masters
degree from the Erikson Institute and completing his doctoral studies through Calgary University.
Presentations
Conducted a workshop in November of 2007 at The 92nd Street Reggio Conference in New York entitled "Cycle of Inquiry and the Role of Documentation." Dave presented as a member of a panel that included internationally known keynote speakers Dr. Carla Rinaldi, Reggio advocate and author, and Dr. Ron Lally, noted early childhood expert. The keynote segment was a national, live broadcast.
