| Jim
Daniels was born in Detroit and educated at Alma College
and Bowling Green State University. He is the author
of four books of poetry, Blessing the House; M-80;
Punching Out; and Places/Everyone, winner of the Brittingham
Prize for Poetry, University of Wisconsin Press, 1985.
Other awards include fellowships from the National
Endowment for the Arts and the Pennsylvania Council
on the Arts, and a Pushcart Prize. Currently, he is
a Professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University,
where he directs the Creative Writing Program. |

| Quincy Troupe is a poet, author
and professor of creative writing at University
of California at San Diego. He is the winner of
two American Book Awards and a Peabody Award, and
he has published numerous acclaimed volumes of poetry
- Embryo Poems, 1967-1971; Snake-back Solos: Selected
Poems, 1969- 1977; Skulls Along the River; Soundings;
Weather Reports: New and Selected Poems. His poems
cover a variety of topics from moving away from
New York City, to his new life in La Jolla, to a
poem about Miles Davis and another about his son.
He uses repetition, pitch, voice tone and the rhythm
of the music to convey a variety of emotions to
the audience. |

| Willard is a poet, author
of children's literature, literary critic and short
story writer. At present, she is a lecturer in the
English Department at Vassar College. Books of poetry
include, In His Country: Poems; Skin of Grace; Nineteen
Masks for the Naked Poet: Poems; Water Walker; and
Swimming Lessons. Children's Book titles include,
Sailing to Cythera and Other Anatole Stories; All
on a May Morning; The Snow Rabbit; The Mountains
of Quilt; Pish, Posh, Said Hieronymous Bosch; An
Alphabet of Angels; and The Magic Cornfield. She
is the winner of the Devins Memorial Award in poetry
and has had NEA grants in both fiction and poetry.
Willard was raised in Ann Arbor, Mich. and was educated
at the University of Michigan and Stanford University. |

| Michael
Steinberg is an acclaimed author in the genre of
creative non-fiction, specifically the memoir and
personal essay. He has co-authored two books on
writing, a stage play and most recently, co-edited
an anthology of creative non-fiction. His essays
and memoirs have been published widely in magazines
and journals. For 25 years he has taught writing
at Michigan State University. |
