BAKER'S DOZEN - REMEMBERING CHET BAKER
August 6, 2009 - GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN (August 6, 2009) - On Thursday, September 3 at 7:30 p.m. Aquinas College Alumnus John Proulx will introduce his new CD Baker's Dozen-Remembering Chet Baker. The concert will be in Kretschmer Recital Hall of the Aquinas Art and Music Center. Tickets, available at the door, are $10 general admission and $5 for students. Performing with Proulx will be Michigan's own Paul Keller on bass, Pete Siers on drums, and Paul Finkbeiner on trumpet and flugelhorn. Some of the songs to be performed include: Long Ago and Far Away (Ira Gershwin & Jerome Kern), My Funny Valentine (Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart), Look for the Silver Lining (Jerome Kern & B.G. DeSylvia), and Before You Know It (John Proulx & K. Lawrence Dunham).
Since the release of his first CD, Moon and Sand, Proulx has appeared with Natalie Cole, Bobby Shew and Marian McPartland. He is also a Grammy-winning composer having co-written the song These Golden Years, recorded by Nancy Wilson for her Grammy-winning CD, Turned to Blue. Proulx recently signed a three-month contract with Feinstein's in the Lowe Regency hotel in New York City.
