AQUINAS COLLEGE ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR SWITHINA MBOKO, Ph.D. TO SPEAK ON WOMEN AND THIRD WORLD DEVELOPMENT
February 19, 2010 - On Tuesday, February 23, Swithina Mboko, Ph.D., associate professor of business administration, will be giving a lecture, “Women and Sustainable Business Development: Portraits of Third World Women.” The talk will be held from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in the Loutit Room of Aquinas’ Wege Center. The talk is sponsored by the Jane Hibbard Idema Women's Center at Aquinas.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Mboko will draw heavily on her personal experiences in addressing the development efforts targeting the problems facing women in the Third World. Mboko will share a perspective influenced by global experiences: she studied for her Ph.D. in entrepreneurship and strategy at Umea University, Sweden and the University of Zimbabwe, holds an M.B.A. from the University of Zimbabwe, and received a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of South Africa. This summer Dr. Mboko will be teaching "Gender and Globalization," a women's studies course related to the subject of the lecture.
"Women and Sustainable Business Development" is free and the public is welcome.
