Dr. Tueth earned a master’s degree in environmental studies from SIU-E and a Ph.D. in environmental science from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Both his thesis and dissertation research deal with contemporary sustainability issues. He designed Aquinas’ highly successful undergraduate sustainable business program as well as the MSB. He continues to deeply investigate the foundations of the sustainable business movement.

 

Dr. Tueth has over 20 years of natural resource management experience with the U.S. Forest Service and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. He now serves as the Steelcase Foundation Professor of Sustainable Business and the director of the Aquinas College Sustainable Business program. He also makes sustainable business presentations throughout the U.S. and Japan.

Deborah Steketee, Ph.D.,  joined the Sustainable Business Program in the Fall of 2005, bringing an interest and expertise related to the alignment of natural and social systems. She teaches in the undergraduate and graduate Sustainable Business programs as well as the Master in Management program.  Dr. Steketee also serves as Executive Director of the Center for Sustainability at Aquinas College, helping to connect sustainable business expertise with the needs of business and industry. In that capacity, she leads the Sustainable Business Professional Certificate program and other non-credit educational programming.

 

Dr. Steketee completed her doctoral work in public policy and political science at Indiana University-Bloomington, an M.Sc. degree in Resource Development from Michigan State University, and a B.A. degree in journalism from the University of Michigan. Dr. Steketee's professional experience includes management positions in broadcasting and publishing as well as work in environmental education and advocacy. 

Her current research and consulting engagements focus on social capital as well as innovation for sustainability.
