Biography

Ric Underhile holds degrees in music, counselor education, and health education, all disciplines in which he has taught. He has particular experience in fund development, strategic planning, curriculum development, and qualitative research methods. For over thirty years he has devoted his career to higher education, especially in writing and speaking about links between health and learning.

A passionate advocate for teaching and learning, he decided in 2015 to share his views on the benefits of higher education through fund development work. As the Aquinas College Foundation's Director of Communication and Grants Management, he assists faculty, staff, and students to secure vital resources. Between August 2015 and September 2017 he secured over $25 million in grant funds for Aquinas College.

He enjoys running, cycling, camping, and kayaking. In addition to his work at Aquinas, he also teaches indoor cycling at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.
