10/03/2013 – The women's soccer team rallied to pick up an all important road victory within league play. Aquinas improved to 6-2 overall and to 2-0 in the WHAC, while Concordia fell to 1-1 in conference play and to 7-4 on the season. The Saints are currently in a three-way tie for first in the league standings with Davenport and Cornerstone.
After almost an entire half of scoreless soccer the host Cardinals broke the ice with a goal at the 42:27 mark. Laura Beth Johnston's goal was assisted on by Lora Palushaj.
The Saints drew even during the 58th minute of play as Elizabeth Vaughan netted her fourth goal of the season. Cami Baker assisted on the Saints first goal of the contest. A converted penalty kick by Jade Antolec with less than 15 minutes to play gave Concordia a one goal advantage heading into the match's waning moments. The Saints found the equalizer with less than three minutes to play as an Elizabeth Vaughan header found the back of the net. Ryanne James notched the assist on Vaughan's fifth goal of the year.
Aquinas completed the comeback and earned the hard fought victory late in the first overtime. A Leeann Latsch goal at the 98:16 mark concluded the contest. Latsch's fourth score of the season was assisted on by Cami Baker (4th assist of the year).
Stephanie Finilla stopped six shots for the Cardinals, while Saints goalie, Molly O'Connor, was credited with the victory. The Saints outshot Concordia 20-8.
Aquinas will now host Madonna (4-5-1, 1-1 WHAC) on Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m.
