10/05/2013 – The women's volleyball team traveled to Sylvania, Ohio to pick up a road conference victory over the Wolves of Lourdes University. The win evened the Saints league mark at 3-3 and improved their overall record to 8-5, while Lourdes fell to 10-8 on the season and to 1-4 in the WHAC. The Saints currently find themselves in seventh place in the league standings.
Aquinas set the tone early and cruised to a 25-16 victory in the first set. The Saints used an attack percentage of .393 in the first set to quickly outdistance themselves from the Wolves. Aquinas continued to hold serve during the second and third sets (25-14 and 25-18) to sweep the match.
MacKenzie Kolstad's eight kills paced a balanced offensive attack that saw four Saints recorded five or more kills. Nicci Thomas was credited with 18 assists, while Rachel Sprenger led the Saints with a dozen digs. Aquinas collected two solo blocks and 19 block assists, with Molly Maynard (six block assists) anchoring the defense at net.
The Saints will return to action with a home date at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center on Wednesday versus Concordia (13-14, 0-5 WHAC) at 7 p.m.
