10/09/13 – For the second straight match the men's soccer teams falls in a hard fought, double overtime match against a conference foe. The victory for Davenport improved their overall record to 12-2 and their league mark to 6-0, while the Saints fell to 2-3 in the WHAC and to 10-3 on the season.
A key WHAC tilt under the lights with story lines galore was on the menu for the Saints this fall evening. After a tough luck, double overtime loss to Madonna five days ago the Saints were looking to get right back into the WHAC race against the team sitting atop of the league standings. For over 108 minutes the two teams played with neither squad giving an inch. Craig Demshuk had recorded five saves, while his counterpart, Mirza Harambasic stopped three Aquinas shots on goal.
With 1:43 remaining in the second overtime Davenport's Dzenan Catic delivered the games only score. Catic's 16th of the season lifted the Panthers to 1-0 victory over the Saints.
Aquinas will return to action on Saturday with at home match versus UM-Dearborn (5-6, 2-2 WHAC) at 1 p.m.
