Saints Drop Two

10/20/13 – The women's soccer team was defeated in both of their matches over the weekend. The Saints fell victim to Northwestern Ohio and Ashford. The victory improved the Racers record to 10-5 overall and to 4-2 in the league, while the 16th ranked Saints of Ashford elevated their record to 10-3 on the season. Aquinas now sits in fourth place in the WHAC standings and sports a 9-5 record overall and a 4-2 record in conference play.

Northwestern Ohio 3 Aquinas 0

The Racers victory was keyed by the three goal effort of Frida Bremer. Bremer's hat trick now gives her 14 goals on the season. Sara Olofsson (five saves) was credited with the win in net for the Northwestern Ohio, while Molly O'Connor suffered the loss allowing three scores on seven shots on goal. The Saints out shot the Racers 15-13.

#16 Ashford 2 Aquinas 1

The Saints concluded the weekend home stand with a one goal loss to the 16th ranked Saints of Ashford. Goals by Hollie Babut and Jordan Pisesky in the early stages of the match gave Ashford the advantage. Leeann Latsch added her team-high seventh goal of the season during the 43rd minute of play. Latsch's goal was assisted on by Casey Westveer, who now has two goals and two assists on the season. The one goal lead was maintained during the second half as neither team's offense converted. Jessica VanDyke (five saves) was credited with the win, while Aquinas' Lindsay Armstrong notched five saves in defeat. Aquinas out shot Ashford 15-12.

The Saints will look to return to their winning ways on Thursday when they host Siena Heights (7-7-1, 3-3).
