11/06/2010 – The women's cross country team made it back-to-back championships, as the Saints won in convincing fashion today at Riverside Park. Aquinas placed five in the top nine and seven in the top 15 to easily outdistance themselves from second place Indiana Tech. The victory automatically qualifies the team for the NAIA Nationals in two weeks. The performance also sets a new school record for team time (93:15); the Saints eclipsed the old record that was established two weeks ago at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge.
Leading the way for the Saints was Rachael Steil (18:07), who brought home WHAC Runner of the Year honors after her first place finish. Katy Cramer (18:31) and fellow senior Samantha Rinkus (18:47) placed fourth and fifth respectively. Alina Dhaseleer (18:50) finished sixth overall, while Alicia Boynton (19:00) rounded out the scoring for the Saints with a ninth place finish. Megan Byrne (19:21) and Rachel Luehm (19:26) comprised the rest of the top seven for Aquinas.
