11/23/13 – The women's basketball team rebounded after an early week loss to record a road win over UM-Dearborn 96-57. The victory improved the Saints record to 6-1 overall and to 2-1 in the WHAC, while the Wolves remained winless at 0-6 on the season and to 0-3 in the league.
The Saints used an 18-0 run midway through the first half to stake claim to a 30-8 advantage. The early ambush enabled the Saints to hit the locker room with a 49-27 lead. Aquinas' torrid shooting (57% for the game) continued in the second half as the Saints stretched the lead to as many as 40 points during the games last 20 minutes. The Aquinas defense, which forced 21 turnovers, played a vital role in the 96-57 victory.
Allison Heberlein led four Saints in double figures with 14 points. The trio of Chelsea Matley, Carly Bardwell and Taelor Sanders also struck for double digits as they combined for 35 points.
The Saints return to the hardwood on Tuesday when the host Concordia (3-4, 1-2) at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
