12/09/2013 – Aquinas College was represented by 18 of their fall athletes on the NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete teams. The criteria to earn this honor is to have either junior or senior status and carry a 3.5 or higher G.P.A.
The men's soccer team, who recently completed a 15-win season, was represented by two individuals. Michael Gagnon and Mitch Torres both met and surpassed the standards and earned their second Daktronics Scholar-Athlete award.
Jackie Gipe and Melissa Hogan, teammates on the women's soccer team, were both honored by the NAIA for their work in the classroom. Also receiving the Daktronics Scholar-Athlete Award were volleyball players Hannah Mahoney and Elle Sturgell.
The cross country teams had twelve current members receive the honor handed down by the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics). First time recipients included Jesus Alvarado, Alex Martinez, Brad Perschbacher, Blake Bitner, Zach Stepanovich, Emily Hazelbach and Krystin Dreyer. Dan Foley, Rachael Steil and Jessica Dippel experienced their third award, while the duo of Jackie Katt and Kevin Mahar both received the award for the fifth time.
