Men's Indoor Track & Field Ranked Ninth

01/29/2014 – The men's indoor track & field team checks in at number nine in the inaugural USTFCCCA NAIA computer rankings.

The rankings are based on a formula that shows how many student-athletes teams have on the 2014 national descending order list for individual and relay events and how highly they are ranked. The highest-ranked individuals or relay teams for each event are assigned the most points, and the point values decrease further down the descending order list. Team scores are equal to the sum of all the point-earning student-athletes’ scores across all events for a given team.

The Saints early season success has been keyed by the national qualifying efforts of six individuals. Caleb Teachout has hit a standard in the 600, 800 and 3200 meter relay, while Luke Hawley and Tom Willet have qualified in the 800 meter and the 3200 meter relay. The fourth member of the national leading men's 4x8 is freshman Adam Cichon from East Kentwood High School. Aquinas also has seen prime performances from both Alvaro Romero in the triple jump and Adam Lohner in the pole vault.

The Saints will return to action with a meet at Trine University on Friday night.
