11/09/2010 – The women's volleyball team won their 19th consecutive match as they downed Cornerstone in the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinals. The victory improves the Saints record to 28-11, while Cornerstone ends their season with a record of 15-25.
Both teams entered play tonight with a sense of urgency that can only come from conference tournament play. The "win or go home" mentality was definitely apparent as both teams dug deep and played a competitive game.
The Saints and Golden Eagles split the first two sets, with Aquinas winning the first and Cornerstone evening the match up in the second. The Saints tighten the screws in the third and fourth sets and walked away with the three sets to one victory.
Aquinas was led by the duo of Mollie Lounds and Jessica Curtis, who recorded 16 and 12 kills respectively. Katie Vander Meer collected 38 assists, while Sarah LeClair led the team in digs with 21.
The Saints will now travel to Fort Wayne on Friday to play Madonna in one of the WHAC Semifinal matchups.
