Men-3rd, Women-5th at Indoor Championships

02/23/2014 – The men's and women's indoor track & field teams placed 3rd and 5th respectively at the WHAC Indoor Championships contested at Trine University. Indiana Tech won the league championships on the women's side with 222 points, while the Warriors also captured the men's portion with a 205 point total.

The Saints captured conference championships in two events. Earning All-Conference accolades for Aquinas were: Caleb Teachout (600 meter - 1:19.39) and the men's 4x800 meter relay (Tom Willet, Grant Gunneson, Luke Hawley and Teachout - 7:49.48). Both performances were also WHAC records for the indoor championships.

Erika Heston, who has already qualified for the indoor national championships, set a personal best in the 60 meter hurdles (8.94) to record the third best performance in Aquinas history. Also in the hurdles Alex King ran a personal best of 9.18 to improve her provisional qualifier in the 60 meter hurdles. The Saints also received strong efforts by Adam Cichon and Tom Willet in the 1000 meters to place second and fourth respectively. Both athletes eclipsed the provisional qualifying mark, while Cichon (2:32.16) recorded the fifth fastest time in school history.

Earning Second Team All-WHAC: Alicia Dorka (Pole Vault), Adam Cichon (1000 meter), Alvaro Romero (Long Jump), Grant Gunneson (800 meter), Jacob Towne (5000 meter) and the men's 4x400 meter relay (Ray Bordeaux, Tyler Johnson, Dionte Williams and Caleb Teachout).

Earning All-WHAC Honorable-Mention: Emily Hazelbach (5000 meter), Luke Hawley (800 meter) and Alvaro Romero (Triple Jump).

The Saints Champion of Character representatives were Michael Shearon and Dana Kolnitys.

Earning All-WHAC Academic: Jesus Alvarado, Ray Bordeaux, Dan Foley, Adam Lohner, Kevin Mahar, Alex Martinez, Brad Perschbacher, Michael Shearon, Jessica Dippel, Alicia Dorko, Krystin Dreyer, Kaitlyn Henniger, Erika Heston, Dana Kolnitys and Rachael Steil.
