Aquinas jumped out to an early 11-4 lead on a layup by Vicky VanDyke at the 17:21 mark of the first half. After trailing by ten at the halftime break, the Saints continued to hang around and closed the lead to five at 14:36 mark on a free throw by Taelor Sanders. Aquinas would climb no closer as Huntington finished the game on 25-10 run to seal the victory 71-51.
The Saints shooting woes continued as they shot 38% from the field and 46% from the charity stripe. Conversely the Foresters connected on 54% of their shots and were 14-20 from the free throw line. Aquinas was led by Taelor Sanders who tallied 13 points, five rebounds and three steals. Lauren Meese was the catalyst behind Huntington's victory as she filled the stat sheet with 13 points, six rebounds, six steals and five assists.
Aquinas will return to action this weekend as they take part in the Marian University Classic. The Saints will tangle with host Marian (0-2) on Friday and St. Marys of the Woods (0-0) on Saturday.
