Men's Lacrosse Defeats Central Michigan

04/06/2014 – The Aquinas College men's lacrosse team defeated Central Michigan University by a score of 13-10 last night. The Saints used a quick start and efficient offense to defeat the Chippewas. The Saints' record now stands at 7-3 on the season.

The Saints took control of the game early, jumping out to a 6-2 first quarter lead. Junior Jakob Auyer scored three times and assisted on another in the first quarter on the way to a five goal, one assist day.

The Chippewas fought back, narrowing the Saints' lead to just 6-5. The Saints, however, would go on a run of their own to push the halftime lead to 9-5. Down 13-8, Central Michigan made things interesting with a pair of late goals, but the Saints would hold on for the victory.

Junior Tim Hansen controlled the middle of the field for the Saints, winning 16 of 21 face-offs and scooping up 14 groundballs. He also added two assists. Grant Holloway had a five point day with two goals and three assists. Jack VanWieren and Will Comai both added two goals for the Saints. Junior goalie Jimmy Watt stopped 12 shots in net for Aquinas.

Aquinas hosts Lawrence Tech this Friday at 5:30 pm.
