11/12/2010 – The women's basketball team continues to search for its first victory as the Saints fell tonight to Marian 69-47. The loss drops Aquinas' record to 0-4, while the Knights improved to 1-2 on the young season.
The two teams were locked into a tight contest that saw the Knights take a slim two point (28-26) lead into the halftime locker room. The close contest was quickly turned into a lopsided affair as Marian went on a 20-0 run to start the second half. The Saints could never recover from the 20 point ambush and found themselves on the short end of a 69-47 final score.
Aquinas' shooting was once again its achilles heel as the Saints shot 30% from the field and 57% from the free throw line. Ann Marie Schumaker led the Saints in scoring with eight points, while Taelor Sanders and Liza Flewelling contributed seven rebounds a piece.
The Saints will be back in action tomorrow as Aquinas looks to right the ship against St. Mary's of the Woods at the Marian Classic.
