11/19/2010 – The men's basketball team falls to host Bethel on opening night of the Bethel Classic 62-55. The victory improves Bethel's record to 8-1 on the year, while the Saints drop to 3-3 with the set back.
The Saints, who have been victories in their last three contests, traveled to Mishawaka, Indiana to battle the Pilots on their home court. Aquinas faced an early deficit and headed to the halftime locker room trailing 33-25. The second half was played a little more evenly, but the Saints could never quite get over the hump as Bethel prevailed for the seven point victory. The Saints could only muster 39% shooting and were out shot from the charity stripe 28-12.
Aquinas was led by Jamell Hatchett's 19 points. Hatchett connected on 8-14 from the field and 3-5 from the free throw line. Sandy Underwood posted his best game in an Aquinas uniform as he scored eleven points and grabbed six rebounds.
Aquinas will conclude their stay in Mishawaka tomorrow with a date with Goshen (2-3) starting at 3 p.m. The Saints fell to the Maple Leafs 77-70 in their season opener.
