12/11/2010 – The men's basketball was defeated by Indiana Tech by the score of 65-54 in WHAC action at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center. The victory improves the Warriors record to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the league, while the set back drops the Saints to 5-8 on the season and 1-2 in the WHAC.
The Saints and Warriors were locked into a typical WHAC slugfest with each team enduring early body blows. The first half saw eight ties with neither team able to grasp control of the game. The Saints, who shot 27% from the field and committed 13 turnovers, were fortunate to find themselves trailing by only four at the half (30-26).
The two teams were tied at 32 early in the second half when the Warriors went on a 9-0 spurt to give themselves a little breathing room. The Saints scored the next two baskets, but could never get any closer as Randy Bartholomew (25 points) carried the Warriors down the stretch to secure the eleven point victory.
The Saints were led by Jamell Hatchett who recorded 14 points and twelve rebounds. The duo of Damacious White and Sandy Underwood chipped in with twelve and eleven points respectively.
The Saints will return to action on Thursday as they host Grace Bible at 7:30 p.m. at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
