03/31/2011 – The men's baseball team extended their winning streak to seven games with a pair of victories over Northwood. The Saints improved to 10-8-1 on the season, while the losses even Northwood's mark at 7-7.
Fresh off their two game sweep of Indiana Tech, the Saints resumed their fine play on Wednesday and remained red hot. The pitching duo of Tyler Cole and Kevin Schafer combined for the victory as the pair of Saints allowed three earned runs on eight hits. The Saints opportunistic offense scored five times on three hits. Ryan Grigonis delivered the big blow with a two run single down the left field line in the first inning.
The night cap saw the Saint score early and often as the Saints downed the Wolves 8-1. The combination of former Red Arrows, Josh Drake and Kaleb Ort, stymied the Northwood bats as the two combined to allow one run on six hits. The duo also posted nine strikeouts during game two of the doubleheader. Kennen Less supplied much of the offense as the senior went 2-3 with three runs scored and four RBI's. Greg Baranyai also got in on the act as he went 2-2 with two RBI's.
Aquinas will return to action this weekend with home and home doubleheaders with Rochester College.
