A Trio of Saints Earn WHAC POW Accolades

04/15/2011 – Aquinas' Nik Artaev, Alicia Dorko and Dustin Heiler where all recognized by the WHAC for their outstanding performances in their respective sports. All three were named WHAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending on April 10th.

Nik Artaev went 2-1 at the #2 singles slot and was undefeated at #1 doubles play as #14 Aquinas played in three matches. The freshman from St. Joseph, Michigan raised his individual singles record to 13-3. The three doubles wins improves his doubles record to 16-1 this season.

Aquinas freshman Alicia Dorko took first place in the pole vault to be named the Field Athlete of the Week. In her second competition of the season, the native of Schoolcraft, Michigan set a new school record with a height of 3.35 meters (11 feet).

Dustin Heiler, Track Athlete of the Week, broke a 33-year-old Aquinas record in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:54.26. The Fowlerville, Michigan native placed first out of 40 runners at the Adrian Invitational and qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in May. It's the fifth school record this year Heiler.
