05/12/2011 – Joordan Hall and Dustin Heiler both broke school records at the Aquinas College Twilight meet contested at Houseman Field. Hall's performance of 25.00 provisionally qualifies her for the National Championship and eclipses the Saints previous best mark held by Allison Strouse (25.10). Heiler bested his own mark in the 1500 meter with a new personal best of 3:53.45 and is an automatic qualifier for Nationals.
The Saints also received strong performances by many others at the "Twilight" meet. Grant Gunneson (1:54.08) hit the provisional mark and ran the third fastest 800 meter on the Saints All-Time List. The foursome of Madison Koening, Alicia Dorko, Samantha DeStefano and Joordan Hall combined to hit the provisional qualifier (48.17) in the women's 4x100 meter relay.
The Saints "throwers" also had a big day as Lindsey Karpowicz had a season best toss in the Discus (146-5). Karpowicz's throw automatically qualifiers her for the NAIA Championships in two weeks. Catherine Newman hit the "B" standard in the Hammer Throw with a throw of 154-1, while Justin Marquardt improved to third all-time in the Shot Put with a 48-11.75 performance.
The Saints will continue to prep for the NAIA National Championships which will be contested in Marion, Indiana in two weeks.
