05/19/2011 – Saints freshman phenomenon, Aaron Hendrick was recently awarded the National "Rookie of the Year" by the ITA. The award was presented to Aaron this week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the governing body of collegiate tennis. Hendrick was recognized while the Saints were competing at the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, Alabama.
Overall Aaron concluded his freshman campaign with a singles record of 22-4 and doubles record of 25-3. Hendrick was named the WHAC Player of the Year and was ranked #1 in the East Region by the ITA. Aaron and fellow freshman Nik Artaev were ranked #4 in the region for their fine doubles play. Nationally the dynamic duo was ranked seventh, while Hendrick concluded the season as the 29th ranked player in the country.
The former Northview High School standout was the only American born player to receive a postseason award from the ITA in the NAIA division. Congratulations Aaron on a great season.
