06/02/2011 – The men's and women's track & field teams returned from the NAIA Outdoor National Championships with six All-Americans and one new school record. The Saints earned All-American accolades in the 4x800 Meter Relay. The foursome of Nick Thelen, Grant Gunneson, Kolin Stickney and Dustin Heiler placed fourth with a time of 7:36.38. The time establishes a new school record, eclipsing the old mark by over five seconds.
Emily Smith earned All-American honors by placing fourth in the discus with a personal best toss of 157 feet. Smith improved on her 2010 championship placing where she placed seventh in the same event. Rachael Steil, a freshman from Grandville, placed seventh in the 5000 meters to earn All-American status. Steil circled the track twelve in a half times in 17:31.
